Wow, it's cold.
The West gets cold in the winter. I'm on my second AF snow day in six years. Kind of a weird feeling, and driving was a real pain this morning, but it really stinks for the crews who have already been out there for 72 hours. They will have to remain for another 24.
There's a new uniform in the works--between this and the new camouflage, it looks like I need to re-buy literally half my wardrobe. I got so little use out of the stuff I already have. Not getting a warm fuzzy from this one. Definitely a "nicht nicht". We'll still have to buy the suckers.
More random notes. In seeming counterpoint to the Pigeon's Analog Wizard efforts, I'm studying for a couple of IT certifications. If the study and testing works out, it's another skill. Computers aren't difficult, and are really a logical extension from my already algorithmic job. Even if I don't use the certs--and I probably won't--it's still learning, and that's the important part. This is, of course, on top of the normal grad stuff. The third wave of work starts next weekend.
The primaries started a bit early this time around, but it's really interesting on the Republican side. (As if you haven't been reading the news for the past month or so.) Mike Huckabee looks a little portly in this shot. Has he been slacking off?

Call me a dork or Dr. Evil minion wannabe... but I liked this prototype better:

Yeah, the Marine-takeoff uniform also has its merits. It still looks way too, um, historic. You have to remember that I catch Nazi jokes at a pretty good rate, and try to downplay it at every turn, short of changing my hair/eye color or plastic surgery.
Zapp Brannigan had it right. We need way more velour.
