Pardon me while I bask in some glory for a second...

We are pleased to welcome you to our International Society of Political Psychology 2008 conference as a member of the section Democracy and Civic Development and notify you that your proposal has been accepted in the program.

We are putting together an exciting program which includes over 500 paper presentations, posters, roundtables, plenary talks, and workshops. To ensure a stimulating conference, we are requesting the help of all our section members, and you may be asked to serve as a chair o  discussant in one of the panels of your section. Serving as chair entails overseeing that the session runs smoothly and productively. Serving as discussant entails offering feedback to the panel's research papers, and this task contributes greatly to the quality of discussion in each panel."

Seriously, I've been holding back on research while awaiting word on my proposal, to include requesting funds to visit Linden Labs, NCSoft and possibly Blizzard to conduct interviews and get some hands-on virtual world design experience.  I'm also filing a software variation request to get MySpace and Second Life access at work so I can get more of my work done at... well, work.

Thus I'll pour myself a nice finger of rum tonight--but I'll be hitting the books hard over the next few months!
